Transitional Program Coordinator

The Native Women’s Centre provides services and resources in the housing sector for women fleeing domestic violence or experiencing homelessness.  The Transitional Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the Transitional Housing Support Worker and Crisis Intervention team members.  The Transitional Program Coordinator is responsible for identifying and scheduling cultural specific programming that supports Indigenous women and children.

 

Salary:

$22.00/hr.

 

Responsibilities:

 

-organize cultural based program scheduling internally and externally

-coordinate with elders and traditional teachers to provide monthly sharing circles and cultural teachings

-collaborate with shelter workers in the transition of women from shelter services to housing

-provide cultural resources to the residents of transitional housing (Honouring the Circle)

-responsible for preparing purchase orders for the Transitional Housing Program for review and approval

-provides administrative support and assistance to programs as required

-provide constructive ideas to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in areas pertaining to the position

 

Qualifications:

 

-Social Services Diploma along with knowledge and experience in transitional housing or shelter services

-knowledge of Indigenous culture and experience scheduling events, engaging elders, traditional teachers

-proficiency in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook Mail

-Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, judgment, reasoning and discretion

-Strong administrative and organizational skills

-Must be an effective, professional communicator – oral and written
