If it wasn’t for Trevor Martin and the team at NPAAMB I wouldn’t be where I am today. I got a second chance at achieving what I wanted for a career. Before NPAAMB I was heading down a bad path, involving drugs and alcohol. Since being in the Pipe Dreams Welding Program, I’ve taken it a lot more serious this time around. I knew this was my chance to get on a better path, one that I know I should be on. This opportunity gave me a feeling of self worth again and I’m happy to say I’ve completely quit drugs and only have the occasional drink now. I’m currently working with NPL, which is a very well known piping company. I’m in the process of working towards getting my welding certificate to weld pressure vessel pipe. Through this program I’ve also had the opportunity of upgrading my welding certifications, from flat and horizontal, and to my all position certificates. This experience has been amazing. I’ve achieved so much personal growth in myself, along with making connections, networking, and getting my name and work ethic out there. Pipe Dreams and NPAAMB have created amazing opportunities for the urban Indigenous youth of Ontario. For the youth that enjoy welding, I highly encourage them to get involved in this program!
Thank you NPAAMB for the great experience.
