Program Overview

Objective
To create partnerships with local employers and community organizations that support urban Indigenous youth employment and job retention.

Description
This program provides a variety of incentives that encourage local employers to employ NPAAMB clients. By collaborating with our organization, employers can expand their services or simply share information and coordinate efforts. Employing NPAAMB clientele is an excellent opportunity to take of advantage of the fastest growing demographic in Canada, while supporting youth employment initiatives within your community.

Recruitment

NPAAMB can pre-screen candidates. We will identify our client’s skills, interests, experience, and capabilities to ensure that they meet your recruitment requirements.

Wage Subsidy

NPAAMB can pay a portion of the wages of a NPAAMB client (limitations apply).

Pre-employment Training

NPAAMB can cover the cost of training your new employee, if eligible. NPAAMB provides employment readiness and retention preparation to its client pool, which could include: WHIMIS, customer service, specialized pre-entry training, licensing costs, etc.

Mentoring and Support

Our Youth Service Officers will work closely with you and your candidate to ensure a positive work experience.

Throughout the years, NPAAMB has partnered with Conestoga College Institute of Advance Learning and Technology, Niagara College, as well as the Ogwehoweh Skills and Trades Training Centre to train select urban Aboriginal youth in various industries to prepare them for employment.

Our training programs provide participants with the technical skills necessary to create pathways to careers that are complimented with life skills, job readiness and essential skills training to create a harmonious transition into the workforce for both the employee and the employer.

We are seeking work experience placements in the following fields:

• Apprentice Welding (SMAW – GMAW – FLUX CORD)
• Production Welding (GMAW)
• Apprentice Millwright
• Residential Construction
• Healthcare
• Hospitality
