This year NPAAMB kicked off its latest program, Arts 2 Employment. The program ran in each city through July for 4 weeks, culminating in curated art shows where youth invited family and friends to show-off their creations and celebrate their growth throughout the program.

While youth were tasked with different projects and modalities during the course, they were free to create their final project in the medium they preferred, resulting in a great variety of music, visual art, spoken art, and performance. Each of their final project artworks illustrate what the youth has learned to carry with them, whether that be family, strength, love, compassion, respect or any of the other values explored in the program.

Arts 2 Employment not only encouraged youth to express themselves through artwork; every week youth learned how Indigenous art impacts our past and present, whether that be through influence, change or resilience. Together with their Instructors, youth discussed how artistic expression can inform our every day lives, implanting ideas and feelings into the average audience.

All the staff at NPAAMB are proud of what the youth have accomplished throughout program; even more so when some student’s works were selected to be featured at Hamilton City Hall throughout July.

Take a look below at the inspiring works our youth created while in program:
